Let’s get your career in shape!
Welcome!
I’m Paul Deeprose
I started The Career Gym to help
great people like you find and then
thrive in your perfect role.
A thorough workout will bring
energy and fulfilment to your career.

My Philosophy…
…is that your career should be managed in the same way as fitness: You set a goal; you work at it, you get excited by doing the stuff you enjoy; you fine tune it; you stretch yourself; it’s exhausting but stimulating and that effort takes you to the next level of ability and fulfilment.
A career in this millennium will not be managed for you, so we guide and coach you on how to energise your career by taking personal ownership for continuously making your career fit and agile in an ever changing market.
The Career Gym…
…is a team of professional Executive and Career Coaches acutely focused on your own career aspirations. We value uniqueness, understand different forms of ambition, love diversity and are hugely interested in creating opportunities for people to shine.

Our style is…
…collaborative; our commitment is to quality and our reputation is based on delivering tangible results for the businesses and individuals we work with.
We carefully balance professionalism with informality.
We love what we do and it shows!

I’m Paul Deeprose
I have a commercial background in Retail, HR, running an FMCG business and as a headhunter and coach. Utilising this broad background I focus on coaching leaders and aspiring leaders to enhance their contribution through greater self-awareness, improved impact, career ownership and issue resolution.
As a qualified Executive Coach I use a number of techniques and psychometrics to ensure my clients understand themselves, their environment and their expectations. This helps the client paint an ambitious yet realistic picture of what is needed to be successful and achieve their goals.
My style is personable, commercial and appropriately challenging, allowing for productive sessions that are objective focused rather than ‘comfy conversations’.
In the past 18 months I have successfully coached individuals across many sectors in positions including: CEO, President, COO, Managing Director, Partner, Operations Director, Project Director, HR Director, HR Business Partner, Sales Director, Sales Manager, Project Manager, Programme Director, Transformation Director, Marketing Director, Senior Lecturer and Finance Controller.
I am also a Career Mentor for students at Greenwich University and for the CIPD, so enjoy helping younger people establish themselves in the workplace.

“I was looking for an Executive Coach to really challenge my thinking and thought processes in a period between leaving a role and needing to make the right choice about the next role to pursue. Paul found the perfect balance of support and challenge, testing out my thinking and ensuring that there was proper discipline in the decision making process. I can look back and say that against quite a detailed and challenging set of coaching objectives we definitely achieved what we wanted. Thanks very much Paul!”
“Paul was recommended to me as I was embarking on my next step in my career. Paul’s personal humour and warmth put me at my ease immediately, paving the way for his extensive knowledge, experience and professionalism to provide invaluable support, advice and confidence boosting. All of which was very much needed and appreciated. Paul is refreshingly direct and constructively challenging – an absolute pleasure to work with.”
“I was looking for a career coach who would stretch my boundaries, be honest and provide me with a balanced sounding board to ensure I went back into the job market with realistic expectations. To say that Paul exceeded his remit in all of these areas in an understatement; I found that Paul pushed my thinking beyond where I was expecting to go and that he ensured I was in good shape for going forwards. I would unreservedly recommend him to anyone looking for an excellent career coach.”
“Thank you so much for your words of wisdom, thought provoking questions and really helpful discussions at our meetings. You have given me a plan and structure to really set me on the right path.”
“I thought I had a good CV – how wrong I was! Paul’s gentle but honest review of my CV made me realise how many experiences I had missed out and how much more I could promote my achievements. He knows his stuff! Simple, effective and well thought through changes have given me confidence that I have one of the best CVs around. This was time and money really well spent!”
“My interview technique changed dramatically after our training sessions, and my confidence received a big boost as I was able to choose froma few roles in March, which was a big relief after a year out of employment.”
“Having not been for an interview for many years I needed to boost my confidence in answering questions about my career. Paul and I spent 2 hours in a mock interview. It’s amazing how much information he was able to draw out of me! Because Paul’s interview and feedback were so comprehensive, the actual interviews I attended seemed easy in comparison! His call to me on the morning of my interviews was a lovely, confidence boosting touch. I got my favoured job. I felt in very safe hands and highly recommend him.”
“Thanks Paul, as I said last week, you have made such a marked difference to my confidence, now letting me approach the whole interview process knowing that I can answer those questions with relative ease. Your focus on simplicity was inspiring and just made such perfect sense! I will surely recommend you to as many people as I can. Thanks again.”
